Sol de Utuado Gold Painted Guanin Taíno Amulet Pendant
El Sol de Utuado - Guanin-Inspired Pendant
The indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, the Taínos, called an alloy of gold, silver, and copper “Guanin.” This unique combination of metals inspired our latest creation, El Sol de Utuado, based on ancient pictographs found in the Caribbean and crafted by our Taíno ancestors.
This striking pendant is made from polymer clay, meticulously painted in gold and adorned with a metallic gold leaf finish to enhance its golden appearance. As a modern interpretation of the traditional Guanin, this is our second version, now focusing on the Taíno Utuado Sun Pictograph. Historically, Guanin was created from hammered metals mixed together, often worn as necklaces by the Caciques or Taíno chiefs.
While our version is crafted from clay and metallic acrylic paint, it is sealed with a protective layer of resin, giving it a brilliant shine and added durability. The pendant comes on a 28” waxed cord necklace, measuring 8 cm long, 8 cm wide, and 1 cm thick, and weighs approximately 1.8 oz.
This piece makes an excellent gift for those who practice or appreciate Taíno culture and traditions. Don’t miss your chance to own this beautiful representation of ancestral heritage. Get yours today!
